APPRENTICESHIP - TELECOMMUNICATIONS
In the late 1970's, Local 164 conducted various training courses on an "as needed" basis. This evolved into our current Telecommunications Apprenticeship program, including training in such areas as:

- Local Area Networks
- Voice/Data Switching
- Security Systems
- Card Access
- CATV/CCTV
- PC Training
- Fiber Optics - FOA Certifications
- Foremanship Training
- Grounding/Bonding
- OSHA 30
- Sound Systems
- Fire Stop
- EIA/TIA 568C Standards
- Aerial and Buried Cabling
This four-year, federally and state registered comprehensive telecommunication and system training program is one of the first of its kind in the nation. Students learn on the job under the supervision of experienced technicians while working for one of our signatory contractors, earning progressively increasing wages. In the evening, apprentices learn from field-experienced instructors in classroom and lab settings.
